When my daughter, Gretja, had a crazy idea to hike the Appalachian Trial, I originally said, “are you nuts?!” But, when we discussed the ‘good’ that could come by documenting it and dedicating it to a cause, my commitment to the idea jumped through the roof. Our 2,194.3 mile journey on the trail brought us many challenges, milestones, friends, and donations to the Micheal J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. But more importantly, it drove a deeper bond between my daughter and me, and I found a deeper connection to myself by overcoming some of the toughest challenges of my life.
